Hope Mills, NC — Police have confirmed that one person was fatally injured in a shooting on Wednesday night on John Smith Road, near The Vineyards gated community at the Cumberland Road and Hope Mills Road intersection. Residents reported that one male was pronounced deceased, and police have now identified the victim as Joshua Knox. The victim’s identity was initially withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

The shooting occurred in the 2400 block of John Smith Road on the borderline between Hope Mills and Fayetteville. Hope Mills Police detained multiple individuals at the scene for questioning, but no arrests have been made at this time. The area remains taped off as authorities continue their investigation.
