A man wanted for a deadly March shooting in Fayetteville has been captured by federal authorities.

On Friday, May 23, 2025, members of the U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested 39-year-old Shawn Antonio Davis in Boston, Massachusetts. Davis had been sought by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the March 8 homicide of Laquarius Devontanious Dove.

The deadly shooting took place at a mobile home park off Honeycutt Road, near Pebble Street in Fayetteville. Davis fled the area shortly after the incident, sparking a multi-agency search lasting more than two months.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that Davis will be charged with First-Degree Murder and is awaiting extradition to North Carolina. His capture was the result of coordination between local investigators and federal agencies.

Authorities also clarified that William Orlando Mills Jr., who was previously listed as a person of interest in the case, is no longer being sought in connection with this investigation.

Anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact Cumberland County Sheriff’s Homicide Detective Fisk at 910-677-5463. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Fayetteville/Cumberland Crimestoppers at 910-483-8477.
