Fayetteville, NC — Residents interested in learning a new skill while supporting the environment will soon have the opportunity to do both as the Beginner Beekeeping School returns to Fayetteville. Designed for beginners and curious learners, the program introduces participants to the fundamentals of beekeeping through a blend of science, hands-on knowledge, and environmental stewardship.

A Unique Hobby With Real-World Benefits
Beekeeping appeals to a wide range of people, including gardeners, families, educators, engineers, retirees, and anyone who enjoys learning how things work. The practice combines outdoor activity with problem-solving and observation, offering a rewarding experience that many find both educational and relaxing.

Beyond being a hobby, beekeeping plays a critical role in protecting food systems and local ecosystems. Healthy honey bee populations support pollination, strengthen plant life, and contribute to the sustainability of agriculture. This course equips participants with practical knowledge and confidence to make a positive impact in their own communities.

Class Schedule and Location
The three-part course will be held on January 31, February 7, and February 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Classes will take place at the Agri-Expo Center, located at 301 East Mountain Drive in Fayetteville.

What the Class Includes
The $60 registration fee covers North Carolina State Beekeepers Association membership, local beekeepers association membership, a course textbook, USB reference materials, and instruction led by experienced local beekeepers. Topics include honey bee biology, hive tools and equipment, seasonal hive management, pests and diseases, and realistic expectations for the first year of beekeeping.

Instruction will be provided by Master Beekeeper John Kasprak along with certified instructors from the North Carolina Master Beekeeper Program.

Registration Information
Class size is limited, and early registration is encouraged. Interested participants can register online at https://forms.gle/WDe2sgbJVGuAReyS9. Additional questions may be directed to cumberlandcountyncbeekeepers@gmail.com.

The Beginner Beekeeping School offers an opportunity to learn a meaningful skill, connect with others in the community, and contribute to the protection of pollinators that play a vital role in the environment.
