Cumberland County, NC — Residents in the Baywood area of eastern Cumberland County reported an unusual sight this week after a pig was seen roaming freely through the neighborhood.
Neighbors say the wandering pig stirred fond memories of the late Chris P. Bacon of Cumberland County, the well-known local pig who captured hearts across the county with his travels and adventures throughout 2025. The resemblance in spirit was not lost on residents who remembered those moments fondly.

The pig was spotted near West Frontier Street and Baywood Road, an area not far from routes Chris P. Bacon was once seen traveling along Highway 24 toward Eastover. According to community members, the animal appeared calm and friendly, casually walking through the area as if it were part of the neighborhood routine.
At this time, it is unclear who the pig belongs to or how it ended up roaming the area. Residents are encouraged to remain cautious and report sightings to appropriate animal services if the animal appears distressed or at risk.
Anyone in the Baywood area with photos, video, or information about the pig’s owner is encouraged to share updates to help ensure the animal is safely reunited with its home.
Moments like this continue to highlight the unique and sometimes unexpected charm of life in Cumberland County.
