Robeson County, NC — Multiple wildfires have been burning near the St. Pauls area of Robeson County, with heavy smoke and active fire conditions reported across several locations, including Blanchard Road, Emma Jane Road, Veterans Road, and areas near Sanderson Farms.

The North Carolina Forest Service reports that the largest fire, located off Blanchard Road near U.S. 301, reached approximately 142 acres and is about 90% contained. Fire crews remain on scene continuing containment operations as conditions remain challenging.

A second wildfire has been reported south of that area along Emma Jane Road, where additional firefighting resources have been deployed. Both fires have required a coordinated response involving ground crews and aerial support.

Aircraft have been used to assist containment efforts, working alongside firefighters on the ground to slow the spread. Dry weather, wind, and low humidity have contributed to elevated fire risk, allowing flames to move quickly through brush and wooded areas.

Smoke has been visible across farmland, neighborhoods, and nearby roadways. Visibility has been impacted in some areas, including along Highway 20 near the Sanderson Farms area, where fire activity was observed.

A statewide burn ban is in effect across North Carolina due to hazardous wildfire conditions.

Community reports and images show large smoke plumes rising across the region as crews continue working multiple fire zones.
