FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Multiple city, county, and regional agencies announced closures and service changes Monday as severe weather conditions impacted the area.
City of Fayetteville
City Hall closed to the public at noon, with many services available online. FAST bus services concluded at noon, and riders were advised to plan transportation earlier in the day. Parks and Recreation centers and gated parks closed at noon. Solid waste collection continued as scheduled, with potential delays if conditions worsened. Fayetteville Regional Airport administrative offices closed at noon, and travelers were advised to check with airlines directly. The Fayetteville Cares Day Resource Center also closed at noon.
Cumberland County Government
All county facilities closed at noon due to severe weather. This includes the Cumberland County Courthouse, Department of Social Services, Public Health offices, and other county offices. Board of Commissioners events were rescheduled for Tuesday at the Historic Courthouse, with the State of the County Address at 6:00 p.m. and the Regular Meeting at 6:45 p.m.
Emergency Shelters
White Flag Shelters were opened to support residents in need. Locations include Cornerstone Christian Empowerment Center at 111 N. Bragg Blvd. in Spring Lake and the Salvation Army of the Sandhills Region at 245 Alexander St. in Fayetteville.
Town of Hope Mills
Town offices closed at noon. All Parks and Recreation programs and events were canceled for the remainder of the day. The Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for Monday evening was rescheduled for Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
Town of Spring Lake
Administrative offices were closed for the day. Emergency services remained operational. Bulk pickup services were suspended, and updates on regular trash collection were pending.
Fort Bragg
DoDEA schools operated on an early release schedule at noon, with no afternoon PSCD classes. Installation operations remained normal. Officials advised residents to secure outdoor items and remain alert for hazardous conditions such as falling debris.
School Systems
Cumberland County Schools were closed, including after-school activities and Prime Time programs. Hoke County Schools were closed for a teacher workday. Harnett and Bladen County Schools shifted to remote learning. Robeson, Moore, Sampson, and Lee County Schools were closed. Additional updates for private, charter, and college institutions were made available through local channels.
Weather Conditions
Officials warned of heavy rain, strong straight-line winds, hail, and possible tornado activity. Residents were urged to remain alert and report emergencies such as downed trees or power lines by calling 911.
