FAYETTEVILLE, NC — Community members gathered Saturday afternoon at the Cumberland County Courthouse to honor the life of Danielle Claire Golcher during a candlelight vigil held in her memory.
The vigil took place on February 7, 2026, at 2 p.m., bringing together family, friends, advocates, and residents from across Cumberland County. Candles were lit in remembrance of Danielle, who was 19 years old when her life was tragically taken. Those in attendance reflected quietly, shared support, and stood together in collective grief and compassion.
Danielle was remembered as a young woman with her entire future ahead of her — someone whose presence, spirit, and light left a lasting impression on those who knew her. Speakers and attendees emphasized the importance of honoring her life, not only through remembrance but through unity and care for those left behind.
The vigil also served as a space of support for other families who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child. Several families who have endured similar tragedies attended, standing in solidarity with Danielle’s loved ones and with one another. The gathering underscored the shared pain many families carry and the strength found in coming together.
Community advocacy organizations, including Moms Ain’t Playin MAP and The Foundation of Donquavias “Davis,” supported the event, offering presence, care, and continued advocacy for families impacted by violence.
Prayers continue for Danielle’s family, for those who loved her, and for all families who have lost children and carry that grief every day. The turnout reflected a community committed to remembrance, compassion, and standing beside those navigating profound loss.
