FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — February 23, 2026 — A wrong-way crash on the All American Freeway late Monday night left one person dead and three others seriously injured, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 10:44 p.m. to a reported head-on collision between Cliffdale Road and Morganton Road, toward Fort Bragg. Upon arrival, police located two vehicles with extensive front-end damage. The freeway was shut down for several hours overnight as investigators processed the scene.

Detectives with the department’s Traffic Unit determined that a 2017 Mercedes-Benz C300 was traveling in the wrong direction, at times with its headlamps turned off and occasionally switching them on while moving along the roadway. The Mercedes collided head-on with a 2020 Volvo XC90 traveling north.

Police said the driver of the Mercedes, Joelle Danielle Sage Outlaw, 32, of Hope Mills, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital in serious condition and remains hospitalized. Her passenger, Nealon Alan McNair, 31, of Fayetteville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Volvo, Alexis Symone Bruner, 29, of Hope Mills, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital in serious condition. A passenger in the Volvo, Adaysia Promise Troy, 24, of Fayetteville, was also transported to the hospital in serious condition.

Authorities said criminal charges are pending Outlaw’s medical release and clearance. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective J. Deal at 910-584-3692.
