MANTEO, NC — An active-duty U.S. Army soldier assigned to Fort Bragg has been taken into custody following a child exploitation investigation led by the Manteo Police Department, authorities confirmed.
The investigation began in November 2025 and was conducted by detectives assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. Police identified the suspect as Aiden C. Borowicz, 22, who authorities say used electronic communication to attempt to initiate sexual contact with a juvenile female.
According to investigators, Borowicz allegedly booked a hotel room in January 2026 with the intent of meeting the juvenile for unlawful activity. Law enforcement agencies coordinated efforts as the case developed.
On January 22, agents with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division, the FBI, and the Carolinas Field Office assisted Manteo police in taking Borowicz into custody at Fort Bragg. Authorities confirmed Borowicz is an active-duty soldier who resides in Fayetteville.
Borowicz was initially cited on a felony charge of solicitation of a child by electronic device. Following his arrest, investigators executed a search at his Fayetteville residence. The search was conducted by the Fayetteville Police Department ICAC Task Force, which seized multiple electronic devices for forensic analysis.
As a result of evidence obtained during the search, Borowicz now faces additional felony charges, including 10 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Authorities indicated that further charges may be pursued at the state or federal level as the investigation continues.
Borowicz is currently being held in Dare County. Law enforcement officials noted that ICAC investigations are often complex and ongoing, and additional developments may follow.
