Fayetteville, NC — A potentially tragic situation was avoided this morning thanks to the quick thinking and compassion of a local man who came to the aid of a toddler found walking alone in the street on Wingate Road.

Around 8:00 a.m., several drivers were forced to slow down and carefully navigate around a small child who had somehow made her way into the roadway. One of those drivers, a young man known online as Yugi Mutuo, immediately pulled over after witnessing the alarming sight.

Without hesitation, Yugi secured the child in his vehicle and remained at the intersection, hoping a parent or guardian would soon appear. After waiting 20 to 30 minutes with no one in sight, he decided to walk through the neighborhood, going door to door and asking if anyone recognized the child.

As they approached a home near Quailridge Drive, the toddler pointed toward a yard filled with familiar toys. Yugi knocked on the door and was met by an 8-year-old child, who explained that the toddler was his younger sister. It appeared the child had been left unsupervised, tasked with watching the toddler while the adults were away.

Yugi, who documented the incident on Facebook Live, continued to call for help from the community in an effort to quickly and safely resolve the situation. After what turned into a lengthy and emotional effort, the parents were located, and the toddler was safely reunited with family.

Thanks to Yugi Mutuo’s calm, determination, and heartfelt concern, what could have ended in tragedy became a powerful reminder of the good that still exists in our community.
