Fayetteville, NC — The Cumberland County community is mourning the loss and celebrating the legacy of Chief Jailer Major Tandra Denise Adams, a respected leader, dedicated public servant, and beloved colleague, who passed away on May 2, 2025, at the age of 53.

Major Adams, born March 7, 1972, devoted her life to service through her work with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, where she played a vital role in the county’s detention operations and criminal justice initiatives. Her commitment to fairness, integrity, and mentorship left a lasting imprint not only within the department but throughout the community she served.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Manna Church, located at 5117 Cliffdale Road, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
Major Adams was known for her leadership, her compassion for others, and her ability to bring people together through both challenges and triumphs. She leaves behind a legacy of service, strength, and unwavering dedication to the people of Cumberland County.
The thoughts and prayers of the entire community are with her family, friends, colleagues, and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office during this time of reflection and remembrance.
