Fayetteville, NC — Fayetteville police responded this afternoon to a crash on Ancestry Drive off Raeford Road after a red SUV struck a stop sign.

According to reports from the scene, the driver exited the vehicle following the collision and fled on foot, prompting an immediate police pursuit. Officers quickly began searching the surrounding area as the suspect attempted to evade law enforcement.

A police K9 unit was deployed to assist in locating the individual. The incident resulted in a heavy police presence along Raeford Road, with officers working from the crash site through the Tallywood Shopping Center area and toward the McPherson Church Road corridor as the search continued.

Police later located the suspect near the Kimbrell’s Furniture store, a short distance from where the crash originally occurred. The individual was taken into custody without further incident.

At this time, authorities have not released details regarding what led to the crash or what charges may be filed. The investigation remains active, and additional information is expected to be released once confirmed by police.
