Hope Mills, NC — On January 15, 2025, at approximately 6:51 p.m., the Hope Mills Police Department responded to a reported shooting on the 2400 block of John Smith Road, near The Vineyards gated community. Upon arrival, officers discovered 37-year-old Joshua Ryan Knox of Hope Mills, who had sustained gunshot wounds. Knox was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation Details

Investigators have identified three persons of interest who may hold critical information about the case:

  • Marvin Bernard Smith
  • Jeraka Nichole Ferguson
  • William Earl Hardy Jr.

Community Appeal for Information

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the identified persons of interest to come forward. Individuals with relevant details are encouraged to contact Detective Bensinger at 910-366-5889.
