The Fayetteville Police Department has released enforcement results from Operation Safe Passage 2026, a citywide traffic safety initiative focused on protecting students and improving driver behavior in school zones and along school bus routes throughout Fayetteville.
During the operation, officers conducted 69 traffic stops and issued multiple citations for violations considered high risk to public safety, particularly in areas where children are present during school commute hours.
According to police officials, citations issued during the initiative included 45 speeding violations, seven cases of driving with a revoked license, nine registration violations, five seat belt violations, three instances of driving without an operator’s license, two violations for passing stopped school buses, two window tint violations, one insurance violation, and one citation for cellphone use while driving. In addition, officers issued 11 warning citations.
Police emphasized that Operation Safe Passage is intended to reduce crashes, prevent injuries, and reinforce safe driving habits around schools. Enforcement efforts like these are aimed at reminding drivers of their responsibility to slow down, remain alert, and follow traffic laws in areas where students and families are most vulnerable.
The Fayetteville Police Department stated that similar safety-focused initiatives may continue throughout the year as part of ongoing efforts to improve roadway safety across the city.
