Authorities state that Warren was cited on multiple felony charges and processed at the Sampson County Detention Center. He is expected to make his first court appearance later this week. The SBI confirmed that the investigation remains active and that no additional public details are being released at this time.

According to officials, Warren faces charges including one count of indecent liberties with a minor, two counts of secret peeping, and four counts of possession of images derived from secret peeping.

Background

Warren was appointed police chief of Newton Grove in 2019 following the resignation of longtime chief Frankie Harrell. Harrell had served in the role for 14 years before stepping down after being booked in a domestic violence case in November 2018 by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

Prior to becoming chief, Warren worked as a park ranger in High Point and previously served as a police officer in Asheboro and as a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. He is originally from the Newton Grove area.

What’s Next

The SBI will continue to lead the investigation in coordination with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina Department of Justice, and the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police. Officials emphasize that this remains an active case.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is encouraged to contact the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation at 919-662-4500 or the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-592-4141.
