Fayetteville, NC — The Fayetteville Police Department continues to investigate a fatal stabbing that occurred early Sunday morning, January 11, 2026, at the Circle K located at the intersection of Cliffdale Road and Rim Road.
According to investigators, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:54 a.m. The victim has been identified as Chris’Shawn Ahmad Sewell, a 23-year-old man from Fayetteville. His next of kin has been notified.
Police say Sewell was outside the Circle K at 8191 Cliffdale Road when he came into contact with a store employee, Chaniece Natasha Starks, 32, of Raeford, North Carolina, who was working at the business at the time. An altercation occurred between the two individuals, during which Sewell sustained a fatal sharp-object injury.
Investigators noted that Starks and Sewell were familiar with one another from prior interactions at the store. Starks has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
Authorities confirmed the case remains an active and ongoing investigation, and no additional details are being released at this time.
