Fayetteville, NC — A heavy police presence was reported at the Valero gas station near the intersection of Morganton Road and McPherson Church Road following a disturbance inside the store.
According to witness accounts, a man inside the business was asked to leave the property. Officers responded to the scene and repeatedly encouraged the individual to step outside in an effort to de-escalate the situation and avoid further confrontation. The man delayed complying with those instructions. At one point, an officer placed the man’s belongings on the floor and directed him to turn around. When another officer attempted to detain him, the individual continued to resist verbally and delayed cooperation before being escorted out of the store.

The incident then moved into the parking lot, where the individual became increasingly agitated. Additional officers responded, with approximately six officers present at one point as they worked to calm the situation and take the man into custody. Shortly afterward, the commotion subsided and the individual was detained.
Officers temporarily secured the area around the gas station to ensure public safety while the situation was resolved. The scene was later brought under control.
At this time, no official statement has been released by law enforcement. Details included in this report are based on witness observations at the scene. Additional context may be available through social media story updates.
