Aberdeen, NC – A months-long investigation into the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl has led to the arrests of three men after authorities tracked her location through her phone. The case, which began in Aberdeen, North Carolina, took a significant turn on January 26, 2025, when the missing girl was found in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The discovery prompted a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, ultimately uncovering disturbing connections between the girl and the suspects.



Arrests and charges

Dustin Ray Goodroe, 20, of Fort Bragg, has been charged with solicitation by computer for unlawful activity and first-degree kidnapping. His bond has been set at $150,000 secured.
Charles Raymond Owens, 27, of Hertford, faces multiple charges, including first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, abduction of a child, indecent liberties with a child, and solicitation by computer.
Isiah Kristopher Steed, 18, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, has been charged with second-degree kidnapping.
Ongoing investigation
Authorities have not ruled out additional charges as they continue to review electronic records, communication logs, and forensic evidence. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding online child exploitation and the dangers of digital communication with unknown individuals.
