Fayetteville, NC — The Fayetteville Police Department is asking for the public’s help in an active homicide investigation involving the death of Tavon Donte Adams, 28, of Fayetteville. Adams was a married father, and in a heartbreaking detail shared with investigators, his youngest child was born the day after his death. His family is now grieving while caring for a newborn and seeking answers and accountability.
According to police, officers responded at approximately 2:02 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, to a report of a person shot in the 400 block of Slim Circle, a small residential street just south of downtown Fayetteville. When officers arrived, they found Adams suffering from critical injuries. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward to help clarify what occurred during the early morning hours. Investigators emphasize that even small details could be crucial in identifying those responsible and moving the case forward.
Police are also seeking information about a gray 2007 Ford Focus that was in the area at the time of the incident. The vehicle is described as having a fading clear coat on the roof, no hubcaps, dark tinted windows, and a missing gas tank cover.
